At Shapiro Family Dentistry we strive to make every patients experience as pleasant as possible. Certain patients might request Sedation Dentistry which has become very popular in Dental Practices all over America. We are glad to offer this at our Practice.
Are you afraid of the dentist? It’s okay – you’re not alone. Some estimates show that as many as 20% of U.S. adults have dental fear that prevents them from keeping routine appointments.
Regardless of why your dental fear developed, you probably recognize the value of routine preventive check-ups with your dentist. After all, missed cleanings increase your likelihood of developing cavities and gum disease, and nobody wants to deal with that.
So how can you get past your anxiety and begin feeling comfortable and confident at the dentist’s office?
One way is to find a compassionate and caring dental team who has experience working with those who are fearful and who are also dedicated to providing gentle, conservative dentistry. That’s who we are and that’s what we do!
But if you need some extra help relaxing, we can also discuss sedation dentistry. Sedation dentistry is the practice of using a calming medication to relieve anxiety during your dental appointment. This medication could be inhaled, as in the case of nitrous oxide (also known as “laughing gas”), or taken by mouth. If you feel like sedation dentistry could help you, give us a call so we can schedule a consultation. We’ll work with you to determine the appropriate level of sedation so you can receive your treatment free from anxiety.
Nitrous oxide is a mild sedation option, and it wears off almost as soon as the mask is removed. Oral sedation is taken prior to your appointment and, since it takes a few hours for the medication to wear off, requires someone to drive you to and from your appointment.
Do you have trouble believing that you could ever feel comfortable at the dentist? We want to show you that it really is possible! Give us a call to schedule your consultation with West Palm Beach or Palm Beach dentists Dr's. Seth and Dari Shapiro. We’re here to help.
